Vulcan Tajumulco, Guatemala 2001

This is the highest peak in Central America at 13,845'. We summited before sunrise. To the east, looking into the red ribbon of dawn, we could see a skyline of valcanoes with one sending a mushroom cloud into the transition sky. To the west was the shadow of the volcano we were standing on extending out into Chiapas, Mexico and beyond.
