While hitchhiking solo in Pakistan I discovered many amazing and surprising things. For one, the Moghul Empire, which ruled this region of the world between the 16th and 18th centuries, established a very impressive architectural expression of religion and authority. The Lal Masjid, or Red Mosque is similar in many ways to other more well known structures such as the Taj Mahal in Agra, India. The sheer magnitude of these buildings, and the cohesion of the devotees, is testiment to the human ability to align to common understanding.
